Tomorrow I take on a new physical challenge… Kent Eriksen’s “Tour de Steamboat”… a 110 mile bike ride leading participants over Rabbit Ears Pass, Gore Pass and back home again. Having never pedaled further than 78 miles at a time, I’m anticipating a long, hot day but one filled with enjoyment none the less.
With Prudential Steamboat Realty being a major sponsor of the occasion, I figured this would be the best opportunity I’d have to ride in such a glorious event. Perhaps it stems from watching the Tour de France over the last two and a half weeks but I’m finding myself nervously anxious to hit the starting line tomorrow.
But the icing on the cake has to be the newly added fundraising element benefiting the Sunshine Kids organization. Prudential has hosted their annual ski trip to Steamboat for many winters but to have such a special tie-in with them in the summer is a real treat. To pedal my way up two massive mountain peaks and help these courageous kids both at the same time is something I’ll remember for years to come.
If you missed your registration slot this year, or are planning to be in Steamboat next July, I strongly encourage you to consider participating in this event in 2009.
Vive le tour!
